Palmento Giorgio Apartment – Home for 6 in the Valle d'Itria

Palmento Giorgio Apartment is the larger part of the farmhouse that Giorgio Palmisano, a farmer, built in 1935 between Locorotondo and Martina Franca, where wine was once made. It covers 145 m² on the ground floor, with three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large stone fireplace and a terrace all of its own, and sleeps up to 6.

The heart of the home is the dining room, one large space under stone cross vaults. On one side is the table, a large wooden table with bistro-style chairs, next to the monumental stone fireplace; on the other, the living area, with sofa, armchair and TV between stone niches holding amphorae and old farm objects. The fireplace's glass-fronted hearth is double-sided and can also be seen from the kitchen. On the walls hang botanical plates from the herbal manual Giorgio wrote by hand.

The kitchen is an eat-in kitchen under a cross vault, with its original decorated terrazzo floor. It has an oven, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge, coffee machine and kettle. Like the dining room, it has an arched French door that opens outside.

There are three bedrooms, all doubles, with exposed stone walls, niches and period floors:
bedroom 1, a few steps up from the dining room, has an antique writing desk and a wardrobe;
bedroom 2 has a cement-tile floor with a Greek-key border and two single beds pushed together to form a double;
bedroom 3 has yellow and blue decorated cement tiles, a rattan chest of drawers and an armchair.

There are two matching bathrooms, both with a shower; next to them is a utility cupboard with the washing machine. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are connected by an internal door, but each has its own entrance.

Every room has independent air conditioning and heating. There's high-speed Wi-Fi, an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer, towels and bed linen.

The main terrace, in front of the façade with its arched doorways, is yours alone. It's paved in stone, with a wooden lounge set, a large umbrella and a table for six, and is sheltered by a pergola with a vine. In front is the large white gravel courtyard with ancient olive trees and a walnut tree, closed by a gate: this is where you park for free and charge your electric car. In the small stone building next to the courtyard are the wood-fired oven where Giorgio's wife baked bread and a masonry grill, which you're welcome to use. The roof terrace is not accessible.

The Apartment, its two bathrooms and the main terrace are for your exclusive use, with a separate entrance. The courtyard, parking and oven house are shared with the other home in the house, the Suite (up to 4 guests), which may be occupied by other guests. If you're more than six, or would like the whole house to yourselves, you can book Palmento Giorgio in full, for up to 10 people.

We welcome you in person on arrival, show you around and hand over the keys. Throughout your stay you can reach us by phone and on WhatsApp, for anything you need and for tips on masserie, wineries, beaches and villages.

The house is on Via Pastore, in the countryside of Martina Franca, about 3 km from Locorotondo, in the heart of the Valle d'Itria, among vineyards, trulli and dry-stone walls. Locorotondo is about 5 minutes' drive away, Martina Franca 10, Alberobello and Cisternino 20. The beaches of Torre Canne and Savelletri are about 30 minutes away, Monopoli and Ostuni about 35.

You'll need a car: the house is in the countryside. Private parking is free, inside the gated courtyard. Estimated distances:
Locorotondo railway station about 3 km;
Martina Franca emergency department about 5 km;
Brindisi and Bari airports about an hour away.

House rules
Check-in is from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a welcome in person. Late check-in from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm is possible for a €50 supplement, to be arranged in advance. Check-out is by 10:00 am. Before arrival you send the IDs of all guests and sign the rental agreement, as required by Italian law. A €300 security deposit is required.

Pets are allowed on request, with a €50 extra cleaning fee. Smoking is not allowed indoors, parties and events are not permitted, and quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. The dining room fireplace works, but is not for guest use. There are closed-circuit outdoor security cameras; there are none indoors. The Apartment is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility: bedroom 1 is a few steps above the dining room and there are a few steps from the courtyard to the terrace. The tourist tax is €1 per person per night, for the first 5 nights.
